Participation In Worship
Our members participate in worship in a variety of ways. Over the course of a worship service we engage and share with each other through the passing of the peace, sharing of joys and sorrows, prayer and mediation, singing hymns, and listening to each other and our worship leader. Once each month our offering is given to a local organization working for social justice in the world. Some work locally and some globally.
Many services over the course of the year are lay led. We also offer a few “Bring Your Own” services each year where a topic is announced in advance and all those coming are invited to bring words or music with them to share. We offer these sorts of services especially on New Year’s Sunday and Valentine’s Day.
Each week members help set up our worship space, greet our worshippers, and participate in the liturgy in ways from offering the welcome and lighting our chalice, to playing music and preaching. Members also offer hospitality after worship and help with clean up.
